Quick Study: Special Considerations Across the Lifespan

Dr. Sharon Whiting was appointed as Vice-Dean of Faculty Affairs at the Faculty of Medicine in May 2019 after having served as Interim Vice-Dean since 2018. She is currently head of the Neurology Division in the Department of Pediatrics. As an active clinician specializing in epilepsy, she has had major national roles in neurology as Past President of the Canadian Association of Child Neurologists and Past President of the Canadian League against Epilepsy. She is currently on the executive of the Canadian Neurological Societies Federation (CNSF). Her clinical research is in the area of health services, specifically the use of the ketogenic diet in the treatment of epilepsy and the quality of life for patients with epilepsy as well as clinical trials

Dr. Katherine Muir completed her medical degree at the University of Toronto in 2011 and post-graduate training in pediatric neurology at the University of British Columbia from 2011 to 2017. This was followed by fellowship training in pediatric epilepsy at Columbia University from 2017-2018. Her clinical and research interests include pediatric epilepsy, electroencephalography and genetic causes of epilepsy. She is the Program Director of Pediatric Neurology Residency Training Program.
