  • Identify the factors to consider when starting a medication for epilepsy
  • Identify indications for common antiseizure medications according to seizure type
  • Discuss how to titrate and adjust medications
  • Describe commonly used anti-seizure medications in terms of their use, side effect profiles, and therapeutic drug monitoring considerations
  • Identify pros and cons of new vs. old anti-seizure medications
  • Discuss considerations for combining AEDs in the treatment of epilepsy
  • Discuss recommendations for AED withdrawal
  • Describe common issues regarding withdrawal of AEDs
  • Explore classes of medications that are highly susceptible to AED interactions
  • Discuss management implications of AED and drug interactions (dosage adjustment)
