Join us for our Genetic Testing in Epilepsy Care: From Panels to Exomes and Beyond at BLU Ristorante in Toronto, Ontario, presented by ECHO Epilepsy Ontario. The focus of this event will be on the evolving landscape of genetic testing in epilepsy care led by distinguished epilepsy experts from London Health Sciences Centre and Kingston Health Sciences Centre, Dr. Tugce B. Balci and Dr. Lysa Boissé Lomax.
This event is designed to enhance your knowledge and skills in exploring the clinical utility of exome sequencing, multigene panel testing, and result interpretation strategies through didactics and real-world patient case discussions. We welcome all healthcare providers across Ontario; however, the content will be most relevant to adult and pediatric epileptologists, general neurologists, and residents/fellows (specializing in genetics or neurology).

Clinical Geneticist, London Health Sciences Centre
Dr. Tugce B. Balci is a clinical geneticist and clinician researcher in the Division of Genetics (Departments of Paediatrics and Clinical Neurological Sciences) at London Health Sciences Centre. Her areas of interest include neurogenetics, epilepsy genetics, epigenetic testing, and other novel genomic methods for rare diseases. She is part of the multidisciplinary Comprehensive Epilepsy Clinic at the Children’s Hospital and leads both clinical and research initiatives in rare diseases and epilepsy. She is the clinical lead of the Neurogenetics Expert Group of Ontario Health’s Provincial Genetics Program and a member of the Ontario Epilepsy Genetics Testing Program Steering Committee.

Neurologist, Kingston Health Sciences Centre
Dr. Lysa Boissé Lomax is a Professor at Queen’s University jointly appointed to the Division of Neurology and the Division of Respirology. She is the Neurology Division Chair at KHSC and Director of the KHSC Comprehensive Epilepsy Centre. She has an active Epilepsy practice with a focus on genetic epilepsy syndromes, refractory epilepsy and neuromodulation, as well as a Transition clinic that helps to guide children and their families as they transition from pediatrics into adult care. She is the President-Elect of the Canadian League Against Epilepsy (CLAE) and is a co-executive Lead for Project ECHO Epilepsy Ontario. She has also served on national boards that created guidelines for epilepsy genetic testing, driving in epilepsy, the transition from pediatric to adult epilepsy care. Her research interests include epilepsy syndromes, medical education and acute stroke care.
