ECHO Epilepsy Ontario is thrilled to be hosting our Epilepsy Care Essentials in Adults: Case Conversations CME Dinner Event in London, Ontario. This event will enhance your knowledge and confidence in best-practice epilepsy care and management for adults living with epilepsy!

This is a free CME event!

Set in a relaxed, inspiring, and social atmosphere, this event will include excellent case-based presentations with engaging discussion to support the application of your learning. Throughout the evening you will also have the opportunity to network with colleagues!

Complimentary food and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided, on behalf of the ECHO Epilepsy Program, which is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health.

Case Conversations: Practical Scenarios in Adult Epilepsy Care

This CME dinner event will feature three real-world case presentations designed to strengthen your approach to managing adults living with epilepsy. The discussion will center on driving and epilepsy, drawing on cases seen by colleagues, and will also explore important considerations in epilepsy care for young female patients and when caring for transgender patients.

Presented in an interactive format, these cases will encourage collaborative discussion and provide practical strategies for diverse clinical settings. Whether you are a primary care physician seeking actionable guidance, a neurology trainee, or an epilepsy specialist, these sessions will deliver insights to support best-practice care and patient safety.

Dr. Jorge Burneo

Dr. Jorge Burneo

Neurologist & Epileptologist, Western University and the London Health Sciences Center

Dr. Jorge Burneo is Co-Lead, Adult Clinical of the ECHO Epilepsy Across the Lifespan program and has been part of ECHO Epilepsy’s leadership team from its foundations. Dr. Burneo is co-director of the Epilepsy Program at Western University and the London Health Sciences Center. He is a professor of neurology and epidemiology at the Schulich School of Medicine at Western, and the Head of the Neuro-Epidemiology Research Unit at Western University. He is also the Jack Cowin Chair in Epilepsy Research. His research interests include the epidemiology of epilepsy and neuroimaging assessment of epileptic malformations of cortical development.

Epilepsy Clinical Fellow, Western University and the London Health Sciences Center

Dr. Maria Claudia Burbano is a neurologist and epileptologist. She completed her medical degree at the University of Buenos Aires and her first year of epilepsy fellowship at the Italian Hospital of Buenos Aires. She is currently an Epilepsy Research Fellow at Western University in London, Ontario. Her main interests include the presurgical evaluation of drug-resistant epilepsy, with a focus on SEEG and radiofrequency procedures

Epilepsy Clinical Fellow, Western University

Dr. Iván Castro is a neurologist specializing in Epilepsy. He obtained his medical degree at Austral University in Buenos Aires and completed his Neurology residency as well as his first year of Epilepsy fellowship at the FLENI Institute in Buenos Aires. He is currently an Epilepsy Clinical Fellow at Western University in London, Ontario. His main clinical and research interests include seizure semiology, epilepsy presurgical evaluation and SEEG.
